What is a List Server?

By signing up you get on a list where anyone on the list can send everyone on the list a message by sending the message to a single address. For example the growers would send a message to "Texas _Winegrowers" Please be aware that when you select reply you are sending a message back to everyone on the list not just the individual that sent the message you are replying to. The list servers have two big advantages. You can get info out to folks quickly and by helping each other out we have the advantage of collective wisdom. If you see someone say something that you do not agree with please politely reply with your view. We all learn from these exchanges.

We now have set up list servers for: Texas Wines, consumers mostly, but growers and winemakers are on the list and answer questions about Texas Wines when the need arises.

Some folks from all three lists are on this list server so it is a good place to ask almost any question about Texas wine. The list owners have asked people to tell them about those wonderful businesses in Texas that have great selections of Texas wines. This is the best site for general information on:

Texas Wines. This list can be used by wineries to announce wine events for example. Texas Wine Makers - Where amateur and professionals discuss making wine. These lists have archives and one can view past messages. There is also a location for posting pictures or answers to frequently asked questions.

Texas Winegrowers - where grape growers talk about how to improve the quality of our wine grapes. We have recently discussed vine nutrition, pesticides, experience with weather, grape news etc.

Many of our University experts are also on this list. This list is restricted in that I only allow those who are willing to identify themselves on the list. I want us to know who we are talking to.
