September 29th - "Getting to Know You"
Invite your friends and make your plans to attend our chapter's annual Membership Event. Bring your favorite wine for a little show and tell. We will provide fabulous foods to compliment. Free for Members and Guests. This is our opportunity to share a broad range of wines and let others know about our chapter. We will be meeting at Kent & Jan Oberle's home, 5007 Castleford, Midland, Texas at 7:00 p.m. We need an approximate count for food so please let me know if you are planning on attending and how many guests you will be bringing by September 27th by e-mail to shirley@winesocietyoftexas.org or by phone 432-553-6408.

November 6th & 7th - McKittrick Canyon Wine Hike
Save the date for our annual wine hike. This event is so much fun!! You won't want to miss. We'll stay at the U.S. Travelers Inn & Suites (formerly Comfort Inn) on Saturday night with a complementary WST pizza party in the Inn's meeting room with "Hot Tubbing" afterwards. Just bring some extra wine to have with your pizza. Early to rise on Sunday morning (depart 7:00 am, Mountain) with a 1 hour drive to McKittrick Canyon (park opens 8:00 am, Mountain). We will depart the parking lot around 8:30 am, Mountain or 9:30 am Central for those joining us that morning. It is a 2 mile hike to Pratt's Cabin where we will all share the food and wine we have packed in. Fall colors should be at their peak, so bring a camera. For those who find the Pratt hike too strenuous a second group will be hanging out at the trail head.
A block of rooms are reserved for the Wine Society of Texas under Group Reservation #10546 (ask for Sheila or Randall) for a rate of $70 + tax and will be available until October 31st. Please note you will be responsible for your own room reservations. If you plan on joining us in Carlsbad please let me know.
